Ash Kecham is finally 10 years old enough to become a Pokemon trainer. He wakes up late on the day he is about to receive his first Pokemon in Professor Oak’s lab, though, and discovers that all Pokemon have gone. Ash has no choice but to take the naughty Pikachu. Pikachu will not listen to Ash or go inside his poof ball, so ash has to pull it with a rope. After several unsuccessful attempts to capture some Pokémon, Ash throws a rock and hits a sparrow. Sparrow gets angry and the whole flock starts chasing ash and Pikachu. They rush the sparrow, borrow the bike from a red-haired girl to escape, but when they can’t go on any path, Ash uses her body to mold Pokémon who attack Pokemon. Pikachu finds out how much ash cares for her and uses a powerful electric attack to drive the sparrow away, as well as destroy the bicycle in the process. Ash and Pikachu get to see a glimpse of Ho-oh. Finally, after arriving in Viridian City, Ash is starred by Officer Jenny who asks why is she taking Pikachu instead of keeping it in a pokeball. After explaining, Jenny takes Ash to the Pokémon Centre where nurse Joey starts treating the injured Pikachu. Before Pikachu’s treatment is over, however, Ash is interrupted by Misty, ash from the girl who took the bike, who wants to stay with Ash until she does not pay her back to destroy her bike. At the Pokémon Center, then Jesse, James and his talking Meo, are attacked by Team Rocket members, trying to steal all the Pokémon. Ash’s Pikachu and Pokémon Center’s many Pikachu managed to defeat the team rocket by using Thunder shock, the first time they were in the sky. “Blasting Off” “Shipped.
Ash, Pikachu and Misty finally reach Petter City and meet the mysterious man who sells the Flint stone. Ash is set to challenge Petter City Gym leader, Brok, for her first badge, but loses the battle. Flint takes Ash and Pikachu to Brok’s house and Ash discovers that Broek looks after his many younger brothers and sisters as his father left him. He brings Pikachu and Ash to a watermill to strengthen the Pikachu. Ash again fights with Broek, coming close to winning this time. However, the gym fires, and the spraying becomes operational, weakening the Onix. Ash wants to beat Onix, but is held back by the idea of Broek’s siblings (when he opens his eyes then finds that he was literally held back by them). Ash leaves the gym but Broek grabs him and gives Ash a boulder badge. Flint becomes the father of the Brok and when they decide to join Ash in their journey, the gym and their children take responsibility for the Brok.
